Woodly®

Woodly®

Woodly is an entirely new plastic material that is based on cellulose, and its properties are largely similar to those of traditional materials based on fossil raw materials.

Plastic is very difficult to replace in our modern society and way of life. What is possible, however, is to reformulate plastic materials so that they have less of an impact on the environment and climate. The primary raw material for Woodly comes from forestry that meets international ecological and ethical standards. At present the material is still partly based on fossil raw materials, as the bio-based alternatives needed to create a 100% bio-based material are not yet commercially available. The first generation of Woodly consists of 40–60% bio-based raw materials, and has been certified by TüV Austria. The goal is to reach 100%.

Woodly can be processed using conventional manufacturing processes such as injection molding, extrusion, and film blowing. Application areas for Woodly include films, packaging for foodstuffs, and household products.
