TPE

TPE-S is the most common variant of thermoplastic elastomers and consists of the styrene block copolymers SBS or SEBS in a thermoplastic matrix of PP. What distinguishes the two variants above all is their weather and ozone resistance, where SEBS is a significantly better material than SBS. These materials are today very common as cost-effective replacement materials for vulcanised rubber in applications with lower requirements on, for example, compression set. They also have the advantage of being recyclable, which is a great benefit for the environment.

  • Low price
  • Low density (unfilled variants)
  • Good flexibility even at low temperatures
  • Good adhesion to polyolefins such as PE and PP
  • Available as transparent materials
  • Food and medical device approvals
  • Poorer deformation and compression set properties than vulcanised rubber
