PEI

PEI stands for polyetherimide and is an amorphous thermoplastic.

PEI is a high-temperature material with very good mechanical properties combined with high chemical resistance. The mechanical properties are also good at elevated temperatures. The material is inherently flame retardant without added flame retardants.

The natural colour of PEI is amber, a transparent colour, and it can also be coloured to opaque shades. PEI properties can be modified with additives such as glass fibre and mineral fillers to further improve mechanical performance.

PEI is available with approvals for food and drinking-water contact as well as biocompatibility. Common applications for PEI include the automotive and aerospace industries as well as medical devices.
