These rubbers have unique application areas and are used when a certain functionality is deemed to be essential to a product’s survival in a harsh environment, or when a specific function is required. Such environments may contain highly concentrated inorganic acids, strong alkaline solutions, combinations of mineral oils and high temperatures, and variants of modern fuels. The materials in this group are at the highest price level and thus are used to a relatively limited extent, when no other material is acceptable from a functional perspective.
