Processing aids

Processing aids are used in rubber compounds to make the material easier to process, improve dispersion and building tack, and contribute to increased homogenisation of different polymer types during mixing. Some processing aids act as lubricants during processing, have a mastication effect, ease processing on roll mills and provide release against rotors in the mixing process, while others help improve, for example, mould release after vulcanisation in manufacturing.

Some processing aids are designed for broad application, while others are intended for use in a specific polymer type or for a defined and specific purpose.
