ULTEM™ Foam

ULTEM™ Foam is a rigid foam based on the polymer polyetherimide (PEI). The material works excellently as a core in several of today’s high-performance composite systems. It can be combined with thermoplastic or thermoset materials to create, for example, sandwich constructions.

ULTEM™ Foam is characterised by properties such as low moisture absorption and good compatibility with various laminates. The lightweight material is suitable for uses within, among other things, medical equipment, automotive and aircraft interiors and telecom applications.

The material has properties such as FST compatibility and low dielectric properties, making it suitable for use in these applications.

ULTEM™ Foam can be processed in several different ways. It can be machined, thermoformed or press moulded into the desired design. This allows the most cost-effective process to be used for each application.
