Cabelec®

CABELEC® is the name of a series of plastic materials that conduct electricity. They are very high-quality compounds that enable the use of plastics in applications requiring electrical conductivity. CABELEC® is available both as a ready-made compound and in the form of concentrates that can be blended with a suitable material for the desired conductivity.

CABELEC® is used in the manufacture of products with ESD requirements to eliminate damage or interference from static electricity. Common areas of use are, for example, fuel systems and to protect sensitive electronic products. Further application areas are in environments with explosion risk.

CABELEC® consists of a polymer matrix mixed with conductive carbon black. The carbon atoms in the material form a continuous network that makes the material conduct electricity. When processing the materials in the injection moulding or extrusion process, it is important that the material is not sheared too much to preserve the material’s conductive properties in the end product.
