We’re happy to welcome John Ekholm to Erteco! He joined us on January 2, 2025, as our new Sales & Country Manager for Finland and the Baltics.
John brings over 15 years of experience in leadership and sales. Before joining Erteco, he was the CEO of Mekalasi, a healthcare distributor. He has also worked as Sales Director at Plastone Oy and held leadership roles at Telko from 2005 to 2012. With his strong background in the plastics and rubber industry, John is a great addition to our team.
To help everyone get to know him better, we asked him a few questions:
- What are you looking forward to working with at Erteco?
I studied polymer chemistry in Finland and Sweden and worked in distribution for ten years. After spending 11 years in other areas of the plastics industry, I’m excited to be back in distribution. Erteco has a great reputation, and I’m looking forward to being part of its continued success.
- What will your main duties be at Erteco?
I will be responsible for overseeing our business in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Our sales team consists of five people, and we also get support from the Tech Center, Sustainability team, and other central functions at Erteco.
- You have previous experience working with sales and business development, what do you think these experiences could mean for Erteco?
I have extensive experience in business development and sales leadership, and I hope to bring new perspectives and ideas to Erteco’s already stable and experienced team. I also plan to use my experience in strategy and acquisitions to help strengthen Erteco’s position in the market.
- You have worked at Erteco since January 2025, what is your first impression of the workplace and your colleagues?
The industry itself is very similar to how it was 10 years ago, but the team and work environment at Erteco are truly top-notch. I have been incredibly well received and look forward to working together.
- When you´re not working, what do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and two children at our summer house or out on our boat in the archipelago. In Helsinki, we live in a house built in 1881, which keeps me busy with renovations and maintenance.
