Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic that belongs to the fluoropolymer family.
PVDF is a very rigid and strong material with good thermal stability. It also has high UV resistance and can be used both indoors and outdoors.
PVDF has a wide variety of applications, but is most commonly used in ones that require good resistance to either changes in temperature or strong chemicals. PVDF is used in the medical, chemical, aviation, and foodstuffs industries, among others.
Some of the most common application areas for PVDF are gearwheels, valves, hoses, pipe systems, filters, pump housings, bushings, and pumps. It is also approved for contact with foodstuffs. PVDF is often used to insulate electrical wiring as it is a flexible material with relatively high thermostability, low density, and low electrical conductivity.
