Earlier this spring, our Managing Director, Niklas Lindberg, was interviewed by Polymervärlden at Plastteknik Nordic 2025. In the interview, he shared his thoughts on the current state of the plastics industry, the key challenges ahead, and why staying connected is more important than ever.
“We’re really pleased. The turnout was great, and it was rewarding to meet both new and familiar faces in the industry,” says Niklas.
For us at Erteco, events like Plastteknik are more than just exhibitions, they are important opportunities to strengthen relationships, exchange ideas, and discover new collaborations in a sector driven by innovation and partnership.
Sustainability takes the lead
According to Niklas, the dominant theme at this year’s event was clear: sustainability.
“It’s been on the agenda for a while, but things are moving quickly now. New materials and technologies are entering the market, while updated regulations are reshaping how we operate.”
He also pointed to growing interest in circular solutions and recycling innovations, as the industry looks for practical ways to reduce its environmental footprint.
“It’s a dynamic space where innovation meets real-world production challenges. We’re seeing a lot of energy around finding smarter, more sustainable ways to work with plastics,” Niklas continues.
What else is shaping the market?
Beyond sustainability, raw material availability and pricing trends were high on the list of concerns.
“Prices affect the entire value chain, from manufacturers to end users. There’s some uncertainty ahead and being able to adapt quickly is more important than ever,” Niklas concludes.
