\n PPO <\/h1>\n \n
\n

PPO stands for polyphenylene oxide and is a thermoplastic that always appears in blends with other materials, as it is very difficult to process in pure form. Most commonly PPO is blended with HIPS, but blends with polyamide (PA) and polypropylene (PP) also occur.<\/p>\n\n

PPO has excellent dielectric and mechanical properties as well as high heat resistance. The various PPO blends are used in areas such as plumbing, automotive and electronics industries. Common applications include pump housings, valves, body parts and connectors.<\/p>\n\n

Main properties:<\/p>\n\n

  • Low density<\/li>\n\n
  • Very low moisture uptake<\/li>\n\n
  • Very good dimensional stability<\/li>\n\n
  • Excellent hydrolysis resistance<\/li>\n\n
  • Chemically resistant to weak acids, alkalis and certain aliphatic hydrocarbons<\/li>\n\n
  • Good mechanical properties across a broad temperature range<\/li>\n\n
  • Low tendency to warp at high temperatures<\/li>\n\n
  • PPE+PS has a glass transition temperature of 140\u00b0 C<\/li>\n\n

    Some less good properties:<\/p>\n\n

  • Low resistance to aromatic and halogenated hydrocarbons as well as strong acids<\/li> <\/div>\n \n \n \n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n
