\n PPS <\/h1>\n \n
\n

PPS stands for polyphenylene sulfide and is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic. PPS is distinguished by its good heat resistance, creep properties and excellent chemical resistance to both organic and inorganic solutions.<\/p>\n\n

The use of PPS in its natural form is limited because of the material’s less good mechanical properties. Therefore glass fibre is usually added to improve the material.<\/p>\n\n

PPS is used across several industries such as automotive, machinery, plumbing and pharmaceutical. Examples of applications made from the material are gears, valves, pipes, pumps and fuel\/brake systems. The polymer can also, thanks to its good heat and chemical resistance, be used in various electronics applications. PPS is therefore often used to manufacture insulators, contact bars and connectors.<\/p>\n\n

Main properties:<\/p>\n\n

  • Exceptionally high stiffness and hardness up to 80\u00b0 C<\/li>\n\n
  • Good creep properties<\/li>\n\n
  • Good heat resistance<\/li>\n\n
  • Excellent chemical resistance to solvents and acids<\/li>\n\n
  • Flame retardant without any additives<\/li>\n\n
  • Good dimensional stability<\/li>\n\n
  • Flows better than most other high-temperature materials<\/li>\n\n
  • Good electrical insulation<\/li>\n\n
  • Glass transition temperature of 85-90\u00b0 C<\/li>\n\n
  • Melting point of 280-290\u00b0 C<\/li>\n\n


    Some less good properties:<\/p>\n\n

  • Not resistant to oxidising acids (e.g. nitric acid)<\/li>\n\n
  • Limited impact resistance<\/li>\n\n
  • Limited colouring possibilities<\/li> <\/div>\n \n \n \n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n
