\n POM <\/h1>\n \n
\n

POM stands for polyoxymethylene, also known as acetal. It is a semi-crystalline engineering plastic that combines high stiffness with good impact toughness and dimensional stability.<\/p>\n\n

POM is a technical polymer used for products requiring low friction and high wear resistance. The material can be both welded and polished, but is difficult to glue.<\/p>\n\n

POM exists as both homo- and copolymer. The homopolymer has higher crystallinity giving better mechanical properties such as stiffness and hardness, while the copolymer has somewhat better chemical resistance and is easier to process. The regular molecular structure of POM gives a crystallinity of up to 80%.<\/p>\n\n

POM is a versatile polymer that can be used across many industries. The material is typically used in various applications in machinery, transport and automotive, but also for manufacturing products for electronics, medical devices and food industries. Examples of products where POM is used include sliding rails, chain conveyors, snap fits and gears.<\/p>\n\n

  • Good fatigue properties<\/li>\n\n
  • Low friction coefficient<\/li>\n\n
  • Glass transition temperature of -60\u00b0 C<\/li>\n\n
  • No flame retardant qualities available<\/li>\n\n
