It is important to us that we strive to have as low an environmental impact as possible in everything we do. Practicing what we preach is of the utmost importance to us. To minimize our impact on the environment, we are involved in several environmental initiatives. In addition, we have a portfolio of materials that are based on recycled, bio-based raw materials.
We have supported Regnskogsföreningen’s (‘the Rainforest Association’) work in South America every year since 2001, and donate 5% of our profits to various projects devoted to saving and preserving rainforests in South America. At the moment we are supporting Regnskogsföreningen in its efforts to protect the Amazon Rainforest and support local communities who live in the vicinity of the forest. Regnskogsföreningen also works with sustainable solutions and on the political representation of the indigenous population of the rainforest.
Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) is a project that was started by Plastics Europe and aims to prevent and minimize material spillage within distribution chains. While consumers are responsible for the recycling and reuse of products, the plastics industry must ensure the correct usage of products that are sold and used. A particular goal of OCS is preventing plastic spillage in oceans and marine environments.
Through our involvement in OCS, we have committed to undertakings regarding this relating specifically to goods that are handled at our storage facility in Sweden. Processes have been put in place for taking care of granulate spillage, and our staff are able to assist other agents in the distribution chain with knowledge and equipment when spillages occur.
The sustainability report is based on implemented and planned activities in environmental, social and economic areas. It has been prepared in accordance with the provisions of Annual Account act, chap 6. Our sustainability plan has been developed based on our current conditions, but we strive to continuously develop the work and broaden our responsibility. We use PURE ACT’s digital platform Acture as a tool in our sustainability work.
We have a wide portfolio of both bio-based and recycled materials; through these, we have focused on reducing both our carbon-dioxide footprint and impact on the environment. If you would like to find out more about our range of sustainable materials, read our presentation.
In addition to the above, Erteco has drawn up a ‘Plastic and Chemical Waste Policy’, which emphasizes the importance of our partners disposing of and recycling materials correctly. In addition, we are certified according to ISO 14001 and ISCC PLUS.
